What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is a non-surgical type of cosmetic service in the field of
plastic surgery which uses laser therapy to permanently reduce the growth of unwanted
hair.
With laser hair removal, the freedom from unwanted body hair is now easier and more comfortably achieved,
leaving you with a smooth, clean and fresh feeling that endures longer than ever
before.
Traditional hair removal techniques such as shaving, plucking and waxing
provide only very short-term relief from continued hair growth. Electrolysis,
although it can result in lessening hair growth, often requires years of ongoing
and frequently painful treatments. Additionally, allergic reactions and ingrown
hairs are common side effects of all these hair removal methods.
Laser hair removal using the LightSheer Diode Laser safely removes unwanted body hair without
damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin. The process is simple. A
thin coat of clear gel is lightly smoothed over the skin and then the light
pulses are quickly and evenly applied. With the LightSheer Diode Laser, there
is no need for waxing or to wait through growing out the hair first. Anesthesia
is not required and most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging
sensation as the light pulses are applied. Some parts of the body do tend to be
more sensitive than others and sometimes redness or swelling will occur for a
few hours afterwards. The LightSheer Diode Laser works by selectively
targeting the pigment inside the hair follicle. Each pulse of the light takes
less than a second to disable large numbers of hair follicles without damaging
the surrounding skin.
The number of laser hair removal sessions will vary for each individual. The LightSheer Diode
Laser treats the visible hair and works to disable those follicles in the
"active" phase of the growth cycle. Follicles in the
"resting" phase will not be affected. Eventually, as these dormant
hairs become active and begin to grow, additional sessions may be desired. Over
time, hair growth will be significantly slower and finer. In fact, on average,
after just the first treatment people experience a 30-50% reduction in hair
growth.
