A common misconception is that the facelift has to be done
on the whole face. In recent years, advances have been made that require an
individualized approach to the face and neck. An individual whose eyebrows are
drooping, may only need a forehead lift; someone who is showing early signs of
jowling may only require a mid-facelift; while others have banding or excess
skin in the neck requiring a necklift. Finally, some individuals may only
require liposculpting to treat the condition. The approach is very different for
each individual.
The degree of scarring and downtime is not as great as with a full facelift.
All regional procedures are associated with shorter scars making them generally
imperceptible when healed.
Another common misconception is that if one has a lifting procedure too
early, they will have to do it more frequently. Although we cannot predict or
hault the aging process, the truth is that the earlier you treat these changes,
the better and more natural the result. After all, the tissues in our early to
late forties are in much better condition than in our sixties and seventies.
During your plastic surgery consultation, Dr. Felice will review your medical history, examine
your face, discuss your expectations, review the procedure, discuss the recovery
period, review other patient photographs and take your picture so that he can
review with you the plans he has for your new look. Finally, we will discuss the
cost of the procedure. In addition, we offer several financing plans if that may
be of interest to you.
